''Sørensen's'' matured works produce the feel of decompose that is emotionally similar to viewing an ageing ocular art. There is a feel of compromised beauty. Sørensen achieves this by dealing by using major/minor key with microtonal inflections and blurring a harmonies using glissandi. Examples of this system may be incurred inside his trombone concerto "Birds and Bells", the act for orchestra & choir "Echoing Garden", & his fiddle concerto "Sterbende Gärten", which took a prestigious Nordic Music Prize within 1996. His early works treat sustaining folk ballad within prosaic way. Sørensen has composed inside the kind of mediums, including orchestra, choir, chamber ensemble and solo instruments, but notably he has non composed any electroacoustic music.
